Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines atrophy as a decrease in size or wasting away of a body part. The secondary definition states that it is an arrested development or loss of a part or organ incidental to the normal development or life of an animal or plant.

     Wait for it...Wait for it...Wait for it...Weight! A lifelong preoccupation that was taken to another level with the onset of menopause. In addition to the rolls of fat growing on my back, I had to deal with snoring, acid reflux, a higher risk of heart disease and a grueling, age-aggravated recovery from a rotator cuff tear. My overall healing time from sprains and strains have definitely become longer.

I'd like to say regarding menopause, "They told me about the birds and the bees, BUT they didn't tell me about this."
